Success Stories
OUT OF AFRICA 2005
In 2005, Team Catskill USA entered South Africa to Test our "Ghost Shadow" Grizzle Family against the best pigeons in the world. One of those entry’s “Colonial Mint” (grizzle hen) who was sired by “The Sundance Kid” who placed equal first in the 2004 Las Vegas Classic and "Sugar" who is a full sister to "The Ghost", and scored the following:
December 10th, 2005 at 168 miles - strong head wind, 2,724 birds competing
Colonial Mint 5th overall (4 Seconds out)
January 7th, 2006 at 236 miles - no wind, 2416 birds competing
Colonial Mint 46th overall (3 minutes out)
This pigeon went absent for four (4) days and returned a week before the 380 mile race and still finished in the top 20% on the day.
We were out bid for her at auction and often wondered where this grizzle hen now called home. What a great surprise to receive this email and update from Robert Coito which we are eager to share with the sport.

Subject: Photos of "Colonial Mint eye and herself + her mate "Frank Mclaughlin "Strong Scooter"
I just browsed into your website and found the "Ghost Shadow" pigeons. I am the fortunate owner of the class Grizzled hen NCC - 1886 known as "Colonial Mint". She is a stunning pigeon, please find attach the photos of her and her mate. Both birds were acquired in the SunCity Auctions. The young dark grizzle cock is a son of them.
